WASHINGTON -- The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in D.C. confirmed that blunt force trauma to the head caused the death of 9-year-old Jack Garcia.

Officials said now that the autopsy is complete, Jack's death will be classified as a homicide.

Three adults in Jack's life are behind bars for their roles in the alleged abuse. As WHAG previously reported, Robert Wilson, 31, was Jack's mother's boyfriend who police said beat the child while he was handcuffed for eating birthday cake without permission.

According to police, Jack's mother, Oriana Garcia, denied her son medical attention after being severely beaten by Wilson. The child's uncle, Jacob Barajas, 23, handcuffed the child to a chair and helped decide his punishment, charging documents show.

All three suspects were recently indicted by a Washington County grand jury. They are all facing several charges including second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse.
