A former candidate for district attorney, three California Highway Patrol officers and five others have been arrested in the killing of a 26-year-old man who disappeared more than three years ago.

Frank Carson, a prominent Modesto criminal defense attorney who ran for the Stanislaus County DA job last November, was arrested Thursday for first-degree murder, conspiracy, false imprisonment and solicitation to commit a crime in the death of Korey Kauffman, Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department said.


Carson's wife, Georgia Defilippo, was also arrested on murder charges, and her daughter, Christina, faces conspiracy and being an accessory.
