Matthew Chaney Walker convinces young girls to share nude photos, extorts them for more, indictment says

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – An 11-year-old Ottawa County girl is among victims of an accused child pornographer who convinced girls to send revealing photographs of themselves, then extorted them to continue, police say.

The suspect used KIK Messenger, an instant-messaging app, to target young girls in the U.S. and other countries before he was arrested in Louisiana, Ottawa County sheriff's Capt. Mark Bennett said Tuesday, Aug. 18.

He said the Crockery Township girl told her parents, who contacted the Sheriff's Department. Police tracked down Matthew Chaney Walker, 25, of Baton Rouge, La., who has been indicted for extortion and production, possession and receipt of child pornography, U.S. District Court records showed.

Bennett said the details provide a chilling warning to parents about dangers lurking on the Internet.
