Forty-four-year-old Alma Hernandez, shot to death in a murder-suicide Friday afternoon at a Loop loan store, had recently sold her first home after a joining a real estate firm just this year, according to her supervisor.

"She was beautiful, the kind of person who lit up the room when she walked into it," according to Molly Surowitz, managing broker at Baird & Warner in LaGrange, where Hernandez was a real estate broker.
