  • 19-year-old Kit Darrant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for 35-year-old Renette Emile's 2012 death

  • Prosecutors have said Darrant got into an argument with his mother, strangled her and stabbed her more than 100 times, using a butcher knife

  • Darrant covered her body up with sheets and sprinkled laundry detergent over it to cover the smell, according to police
