A Berwyn man charged with murder in connection with the death of his 10-month-old great-niece was ordered held without bail Wednesday, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office.

Jose Giancarlo Difatta-Perez, 31, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Giselle Estaphanie Cuellar, authorities said.

According to state's attorney's office spokesman Steve Campbell, Difatta-Perez admitted to authorities that he shook the infant when she was in his care July 18. Campbell said the baby suffered blunt force trauma to the head, causing a brain hemorrhage.

Campbell said Difatta-Perez had been watching the infant when her mother went out to exercise (Because she never goes to an actual job) Four hours (FOUR HOURS OF EXERCISING?) after leaving the baby, the mother received a call from Difatta-Perez that the baby had woken up from a nap. About 15 minutes later, the mother received a second call from him saying that something was wrong, Campbell said.
