Eighteen-year-old Ricardo "Ricky" Mendez-Bucio lived in fear of violence in the Back of the Yards neighborhood and wanted to move, according to his family.
“I feel like something’s going to happen to me here,'' said his father, Ricardo Mendez Sr., 46, quoting his son, who was killed Thursday in a shooting. “And look what happened,’’ said Mendez, wiping away tears as he sat outside his home with family in the 4500 block of South Paulina Street on Friday afternoon.
