Daja Brookshire, of the 800 block of North County Line Road in Gary, was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Methodist Northlake Hospital in Gary at 11:24 p.m., according to a statement from the Lake County coroner’s office.
Brookshire suffered a gunshot wound in the 700 block of Adams Street in Gary, according to the coroner’s office. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Gary police were not immediately available for information.
