Police: Armed Negro robbers hold Deerfield-area family at gunpoint

Three armed Negro robbers armed with a gun held a Lake County family captive for a few moments Thursday night while robbing them of cash and about $10,000 in jewelry, officials said Friday.

According to a report from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, three males were driving through the 1100 block of Inverrary Lane in an unincorporated area near Deerfield when they spotted a young boy playing outside his house with a friend.

"Two of the three male individuals forced the two juveniles inside the victim's residence at gunpoint," the report reads.
