A man has been killed and at least 14 other people have been wounded in shootings since Thursday afternoon, police said.

The fatal shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in the 3000 block of South Michigan Avenue in the city's South Commons neighborhood.

Preliminary information from Chicago Police News Affairs said a 20-year-old man was standing in the street when he was approached by an armed man who fired in his direction. The man suffered wounds to the back and buttocks, and he was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.

The man was identified as Darian Gunn, 20, of the 2300 block of East 70th Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead at Stroger at 4:13 p.m.
