Some Illinois state lawmakers have long looked at gaming expansion as a relatively pain-free way for Illinois to raise millions of dollars in new revenue.
However, a new report from the General Assembly’s Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability indicates that gaming is going through some slow times, and expansion may not be a panacea for the state’s money woes.
