Cops arrest Stephanie Marie Moore allegedly caught riding sea turtles in photos that went viral on social media

Melbourne, Australia -   A 20-year-old woman, who allegedly was caught sitting or riding on sea turtles in photos that went viral on social media, was arrested early Saturday, according to Melbourne police.

Stephanie Marie Moore, one of two females photographed in July sitting or riding on sea turtles, was wanted on a felony warrant in connection with the alleged incident, according to police.

The photos flooded social media sites and prompted multiple complaints to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which handled the criminal investigation.

Moore's arrest Saturday happened after Melbourne police officers responded to a disturbance in progress in the 600 Block of Espanola Way.

During their investigation, officers discovered Moore's active warrant in reference to failing to comply with a FWC rule.

Moore was arrested and taken to the Brevard County Jail.
