Sanctuary City of Chicago - An illegal beaner gang banger found guilty of shooting a father six times as he tried to put his toddler in a car seat in Little Village has been sentenced to 52 years in prison, according to prosecutors and court records.

Esteban Sotelo, 22, was found guilty in July of attempted murder, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon in the shooting July 25, 2013, in the 2700 block of West 24 th Street. Sotelo, a member of the Latin Kings street gang, had tried to get a 14-year-old boy to carry out the shooting as part of a gang initiation, but the boy became too afraid to shoot anyone and instead acted as a lookout, prosecutors said.

The victim, a man who was 29 at the time, lost sight in one of his eyes and has had to undergo several surgeries, prosecutors said.

Sotelo, nicknamed “Sniper,” set out the day of the shooting with the boy to shoot a member of the rival Satan’s Disciples gang, so that the boy could complete a gang initiation, prosecutors said. They walked to the 2700 block of West 24 th Street in Little Village, where the victim was leaving his mother’s home with his wife and their daughter, who was at the time 20 months old, prosecutors said.
