Info Post

Police are warning residents of the city's Washington Heights and Morgan Park neighborhoods after reports of robberies against delivery drivers in the area. A suburban single mother of three - who does not wish to be identified - says she's afraid to take certain jobs and is losing money, as she is one of four delivery people to be robbed in the last month. The woman, who spoke exclusively to ABC7 Eyewitness News, says she was robbed in the 10700-block of S. Loomis by at least five men - two of which were armed with 2x4s. She says one of the offenders hit her car with the 2x4. The incident occurred at 3:30 p.m. last Thursday.

The woman says she never saw a gun, but fears what the offenders may do next time if they are not caught. In the Washington Heights incidents, police say the alleged offenders ordered food and then confronted the drivers while displaying a black firearm, demanding food and money. During one of the incidents, police say an offender allegedly shot into the car of the fleeing delivery driver.

Incidents were reported at the following locations: The 8900-block of South Carpenter on Sept. 28 around 9 p.m. The 9100-block of South Racine on July 9 around 9:15 p.m. The suspects are described as two 20-year-old African American males; one is 5-foot-3 and weighs 145 lbs., and the other is 5-foot-9 and weighs 160 lbs. with short black hair. Anyone with information on the suspects is encouraged to call Chicago police at 312-747-8273.
