AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man is accused of choking a woman and stomping her head on the sidewalk during a fight over $2.

Fredrick Peoples, 29, is charged with felonious assault and abduction. Peoples is not in custody and a warrant was issued Sunday for his arrest.

Peoples fought with a 22-year-old woman about 9 p.m. Saturday at his home in the 1000 block of Georgia Avenue. He choked the woman until she blacked out, according to court records.

He dragged the woman outside and onto the sidewalk, where he kicked and stomped her head several times, the records say.

The woman was hospitalized. Her condition is unknown but she was able to give a statement to police after the incident. She told police an argument about $2 turned violent.

The woman suffered injuries to her face, head and neck, police said. Several witnesses told officers they saw the attack.

Peoples has been convicted of several misdemeanors and three felonies, including a 2005 conviction for crack possession.

He was sentenced to three years on probation in 2007 for having an illegal gun and for firing it at someone.

He was sentenced to four years in prison for a 2008 incident where he fired several shots into a Vesper Street home, narrowly missing a 2-year-old boy.
