Northbrook police are asking residents not to do drive-up banking in the dark after a second recent robbery attempt took place at a Northbrook ATM.

Authorities said the last gunpoint holdup took place at a Chase Bank drive-through ATM at Sanders and Dundee roads at about 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 8.As with the first robbery attempt, no one was hurt and no money was taken, officials said.

"There were two potential robbers, one came up to the driver's window, and the other to the passenger window," Northbrook spokesperson Cheryl Fayne-de Persio said Wednesday. "The victim was able to drive away and did not withdraw money form the bank."

She said both robbers got away on foot and one of them had a gun.

They were described only as "two males with masks and gloves."

A similar crime was reported at the Chase drive-through at Dundee and Pfingsten roads, 14 blocks to the east, at around 9:45 p.m. Sept. 23, police said.

That robber was described as a black man wearing dark clothes, with a black bandanna with white markings covering the lower part of his face, according to police. He was said to be between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with short black hair and no visible tattoos or markings on his clothes.
