Aurora police are investigating the death of a man on a Metra commuter train that arrived from Chicago on Thursday afternoon.

A Metra conductor called Aurora police about 2 p.m. Thursday to report that a deceased man was found on Train 1231, which left Chicago's Union Station at 12:30 p.m., a Metra spokesman said.

"The conductor was doing a routine check and found a deceased passenger," said Michael Gillis, Metra spokesman.

There were no outward signs of trauma to the body, according to the preliminary investigation, and foul play is not suspected at this time, according to a spokesman for the Aurora police.

Detectives and evidence technicians remained on the scene past 5 p.m. Thursday, but the situation affected only Train 1231, which was delayed on its return trip to Chicago, Gillis said. There was no other service interruption.

The Kane County coroner's office handled the body.
