Jessica Tackett, Daughter tied to family sex extortion case dies

Jessica Tackett, who was awaiting trial in a bizarre prostitution and extortion case that totaled $2.6 million in funds and involved her parents as conspirators, died on Monday.

The cause and manner of death are under investigation, said Ryan Bridges, a spokesman for the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Tackett’s father, Terry Tackett, 53, of Romulus, still hadn’t been told about his daughter’s death as of Thursday night. He is in federal prison in Milan while awaiting trial.

“It’s a very difficult time for the family,” said his attorney, Todd Flood. Jessica Tackett’s attorney did not return requests for comment. A brother declined comment.
