A Schaumburg Negro who was charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing shots at two police officers was ordered held on $2.5 million bond Friday in court in Rolling Meadows.

Tamekka Broyles, 31, who was shot by police during the altercation last Saturday, is also charged with aggravated assault and aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to court records.

Broyles allegedly was upset after receiving a text message while at work from her wife saying that she wanted to end their relationship, according to court testimony.

Broyles bought a bottle of whiskey on her way home from a job at a warehouse, then called police and "indicated that she had a gun and that she was going to kill herself," said Maria McCarthy, a Cook County assistant state's attorney.
