Chicago Negro Violence - Man fatally shot at Southwest Side gas station, 6 wounded in other shootings

A man who was shot to death as he sat in a car at a Southwest Side gas station, and at least six other people have been wounded by gunfire in the city since late Thursday morning, police said.

The 19-year-old man was shot around 2:55 p.m. at the B&Z Quick Mart and Gas in the 4700 block of South Western Avenue in the Brighton Park neighborhood, authorities said. He died after being taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, fire and police officials said.

He was in a vehicle when unknown assailants approached on foot and fired shots, hitting him in the torso, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.
