Blackhawks' Patrick Kane investigated by police in N.Y. hometown
With Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane facing a police investigation in his western New York hometown, his team and the NHL on Thursday were closely watching developments surrounding a Chicago favorite son who had seemingly moved on from bad-boy behavior to become one of the faces of his sport.
The team and the league acknowledged the investigation in tersely worded statements that belied what's at stake for both: money, image and, perhaps, the future of a player still basking in the afterglow of winning the Stanley Cup just seven weeks ago.
"We are aware of a police investigation and are following developments," said Frank Brown, the league's group vice president of communications.
The Blackhawks were equally reticent.
