A parolee charged in the armed robbery of a Beverly convenience store earlier this week has picked up new charges in Evergreen Park.
Attired in a striped jail uniform, Keenan T. Knight, 25, of the 1600 block S. 6th Street, Maywood, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice for a bond hearing in Bridgeview on Friday afternoon.
According to Evergreen Park police and prosecutors, Knight walked into the 7-Eleven store at 9860 S. Kedzie Ave., around 10:35 p.m. July 26, where witnesses said that Knight had a white t-shirt pulled over his head and face.
Prosecutors said that Knight displayed a gun and demanded money from the register. He also demanded all the Newport 100 cigarettes.
The store clerk handed over $320 cash from the register and 20 packs of cigarettes, according to the charges.
Knight was charged with two counts of armed robbery in the Evergreen Park case.
He is also accused of pulling off a similar robbery at a 7-Eleven at 2421 W. 103rd St., Chicago, around the same time of evening. He was arrested the next morning.
Knight was sentenced for four years for attempted aggravated robbery in the Illinois Department of Corrections in 2013. He was paroled on June 5.
Judge Felice set bail for the Evergreen Park charges at $750,000. Knight is also being held on $250,000 for the Beverly armed robbery charge.
Knight is due back in Bridgeview on August 20.
